Paul Ego is best known as a Team Leader on TV3’s comedy panel show “7 Days” and as the voice of Stick Man in advertisements for a certain large yellow supermarket.
An award-winning comedian, Paul has performed in every NZ International Comedy Festival since 1996, with many of his solo shows selling out. He has also opened for British comedy legend Ross Noble and toured New Zealand with Irish comic genius Ed Byrne.
Paul is a naturally funny raconteur who has what he reckons is his ideal job – being paid to be himself. His quick mind and charm make him an ideal Master of Ceremonies. He’s a crack improviser who often makes stuff up on the fly, always with hilarious results.
Prior to his TV career, Paul served 11 years in breakfast radio on both MoreFM and The Rock.
And no, his real surname isn’t Ego, it’s Jones. His first stage name was Paul E. Jo, a nickname from an auntie. Of all the mispronunciations by MCs, he thought Paul Ego was the best, and so it stuck.
